The Poplar Island series is based on birds’ eye map images of an area in the Chesapeake Bay.  The painting process involved building up many layers.  The layers of texture reflect the unique experimental landscape of Poplar Island and the surrounding waters.  Zoom in on the area on Google Maps satellite view to check out this interesting island.
